40mm Staves

Sapele, aka Sapelli, is a very smooth-looking timer with a very dark reddish-brown colour which darkens with age. It is a very popular wood not only for kitchen worktops but for bar counter tops due to it being extremely hardwearing. It has fine uniform texture and good natural lustre.

These are Sapele worktops with 40mm wide staves (blocks). Our wooden worktops are manufactured to the highest possible standard using carefully selected timbers from sustainable sources.

Description

The Sapele worktops are a popular choice, at Wood Worktops, due to their distinctive grain pattern and sumptuous dark colouring, which adds a timeless elegance to contemporary and traditional kitchen designs. The beautiful hardwearing African timber Sapele (also known as Sapelli), with its rich, distinctive red and brown colouring and lighter mellow hints, will gain character as the decade’s pass.

The worktops are crafted in the UK and Europe by joining sustainably, sourced 40mm staves (block) with V-grooved joints. This creates a hardwearing, durable work surface with a distinctive block pattern design. There are a variety of worktops available, ranging from 1m – 4m, with a thickness of 40mm. The size variations mean the worktops are suitable for any design and help our customers avoid unnecessary costs and wasting this excellent wood.

We finish the worktops to a 150-grit smoothness, with standard square corners and edges. This creates a smooth surface ready for oiling/sealing (this should be completed before installation). Bespoke Cutting and Oiling/Sealing services are available if you require a different design or would like to save time.

Due to our many years of experience, we understand the skill required to fit worktops safely and securely. Therefore, we highly recommend fitting is only undertaken by a skilled tradesperson, using the correct brackets and tools. The wide worktops (1240mm) may also require extra support to create a worktop free of cupping, bowing or warping.

You can place your order online or by giving our team a call, if you have any questions.
