Maple Butchers Block Worktops

Maple wood is a lightly toned timber with an open wavey grain, which has been the traditional first choice, for the butcher’s block, for hundreds of years. Maple is known for its hardwearing properties and delicate grain patterns; the maple butcher’s block creates a robust surface due to its density.

This elegant honey-coloured timber gives a classic warmth. It is perfect for creating a light, relaxed, spacious feel, whether paired with a light-coloured design or used to brighten a darker kitchen area. Maple is the lightest coloured butcher block in our range and is created by fusing vertical staves (blocks), which leaves the open-end grains exposed and creates a highly hard wearing surface. This block formation creates the familiar checked effect, for which the butcher’s block is known.

Butchers Blocks in Maple

A maple butcher’s block is perfect for a busy kitchen. Whilst maple is a tough, dense wood, it is very kind to the cutting edge of knives, unlike many other materials from which chopping boards are made. Due to its natural antibacterial properties, it is easy to keep clean and is always on hand for food preparation, chopping, and cutting. A butcher’s block also reduces the need for storing bulky chopping boards, which take up valuable cupboard space and can often be challenging to find.

Due to their stave structure and grain patterns, no two butchers’ blocks are the same, giving your kitchen a unique finish. They are also available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses to suit your needs and desires.

At Wood Worktops, we love working with our customers to help them create stunning centrepieces for their homes. We use our many years of experience, and expertise, to help them choose the right option for their unique kitchen designs. We have created a free wood sample service, enabling our customers to see a sample of the wood in their homes and to buy confidently.

The maple butcher blocks are exquisitely created in the UK and Europe from sustainably harvested timbers. They have a high 150-grit finish, creating a beautifully smooth surface that is ready for sealing/oiling. The process of sealing/oiling should be carried out before the block is fitted; this will ensure it is fully protected and will last for many years. An oiling/sealing service is available, saving you time and giving you one less job to do. The oiling/sealing service can be conveniently selected when you place your order for all butcher’s blocks, worktops or breakfast bars.

When investing in a quality product like a butcher’s block, it is crucial to have it fitted safely and securely, as it will last for many years. For this reason, we highly recommend using a qualified tradesperson with the correct tools and fittings.
